Decided to read Twilight

I have expectations

happygirl327

Update 1:

Book Bella > Movie Bella. Why did they make her in the movies so awkward idk.

Also, it looks like that one of the Book Bella's personality traits is tripping. Srsly girl, you tripped in probably in every chapter I read so far.

And my dude Edward is a red flag, like in the movies. But less awkward. I actually like Book Edward a tiny bit more than Movie Edward.

Update 2:

The dialogue - How old are you? / Seventeen / How long have you been seventeen? / A while - is much better in book.

happygirl327

Update 3:

I forgot this aims at teenagers. It's cheesy af.

Edward telling Bella that he watch her sleep is samehow less creepy here than in the movie.

Also, did I mentoned that Book Bella >> Movie Bella? Like what thw hell did they do to her in the movies, she has much more personality in the book.

Also, I like it that she spends more time with her human friends/classmates here.

So far this book is kind of good.

Update 4:

Me reading this book after watching the movie: ... yeah... makes more sense... I see ... yeah ... this makes sense too... right ... makes sense...

You know, I am kind of glad that Twlight is getting reboot. They will hopefuly give more characters more screentime and depth. I mean Carlisle past? More Jasper (didn't expect that in this book tbh)? More reasoning behind character's actions?

Update 5:

I finished the Twilight book (yes, I have so much free time now and I haven't read books in a while so ... yeah)

My honest thoughts:

  • It was not exactly my cup if tea. As I mentioned above, this litalerature aims at teenagers so ... I can see younger me liking it more, but adult me was not impressed that much.
  • It's cheesy af. And Bella and Edward fell for each other way too hard really fast. Personallly, I am more a fan of a slow-burn.
  • Book Bella >>> Movie Bella. She's less cringey and have more personality.
  • Speaking of personality, tripping is not a personality trait. But I guess in Bella's case it is.
  • Book Edward is less awkward than Movie Edward. And less cringey. Still kind of a red flag tho.
  • I really liked the last 1/3 of the book. Full of action. Other 2/3 was basically Q & A between Bella and Edward which was not that boring, a lot of info was revealed.
  • Speaking of info, I am glad I read the book because thanks to that a lot of things make sense to me now. There's more reasoning behind character's actions.
  • Carlisle's and Alice's past was unexpected but a pleasant surprise. We're digging more into the lore in books and I like that.

Overall it was not bad. Better than movies 100%.

I just got home from library and I borrowed New Moon and Eclipse. So the saga continues.

Update 6:

Started reading New Moon.

Bella and Edward broke up. She depressed.

I kind of like how those 4 months of apathy is portrayed in book. In the movie there is Bella sitting near window and the names of months are displayed. In book you have 4 blank pages and the only thing that is written there are the name of the months - one page for October, one for November, etc.

Right now I am at the part where Bella and Jessica went to cinema. I am SO glad that there isn't the part where Bella rides the bike with the dude like in the movie. It's not there. But why they do it in the movie? It was weird, I never understood why she would do that...

happygirl327

Update 7:

Bella's and Jacob's friendship is wholesome

happygirl327

Update 8:

New Moon Book > Twilight Book. Way better.

happygirl327

Update 9:

Honestly, Bella being so eager to become a vampire is getting annoying...

happygirl327

Update 10:

I finished the New Moon book. Here are my honest thoughts:

  • New Moon book > Twilight book.
  • Bella and Jacob had a wholesome friendship. And I really would never see them as a couple. Well, maybe with pre-wolf Jacob (?), really no with post-wolf Jacob.
  • My man Charlie is going through a lot. He is doing his best. And he has every right to hate Edward.
  • Also,I like that in books the relationship between him and Bella is more detailed. In this book there is more father/daughter moments and I love it.
  • Bella being so eager to become a vampire was getting annoying in last book and in this book as well. Well, I can see why she would want to become one but at the same time here eagerness is annoying.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Let's go read the next one.

happygirl327

Update 11:

Started reading Eclipse.

Did just Bella had a tantrum because she ... ages?

happygirl327

Update 12:

Jacob and Edward are suprisingly more civil to each other than in the movies. I like it.

happygirl327

Update 13:

Jacob kissed Bella. After this I don't like him. She clearly didn't want it. And he kept being smug about it. Poor girl broke her hand. I wish Edward would wipe the floor with him for this

happygirl327

Update 14:

Bella’s too conflicted with her feelings. She wants Edward and doesn’t want to hurt Jacob. But when she choose Jacob, she will loose Edward. This is frustraiting to read. And suddenly she kiss Jacob and he no longer bff or bro, now she loves him too. And he, drama queen, was before like: “you are getting married. very well then I don’t care if I am getting killed or no” …. ugh …ffs

#teamedward. My dude is kind of a red flag sometimes but it looks like he’s the only one with a braincell … sometimes.
